Where Malta's English schools are
Most schools cluster in the St Julian's, Swieqi and Sliema belt on the east coast: compact, walkable, well served by buses and where most students end up living anyway. A few sit in Valletta and Floriana, there are calmer options up north around St Paul's Bay and Pembroke, and one school on Gozo for a quieter, slower stay. 14 of the 32 are FELTOM members; the rest are fully ELT-licensed without being in FELTOM, which is not a mark against them.

How many licensed English schools are there in Malta? +
Malta and Gozo have 32 licensed English-language teaching schools on the ELT Council's July 2026 register, the great majority of them in the St Julian's, Swieqi and Sliema belt. This map plots every one, plus its town and accreditation. A handful of home-tuition and fully online providers are also licensed but are not campus schools, so they are not shown here.
What is the ELT Council and why does the licence matter? +
The ELT Council is Malta's official regulator for English-language teaching. A school must hold an ELT Council licence to legally run English courses, so the licence, not marketing claims, is the baseline you should check first. Every school on this map is on the current official licensed register.
Is FELTOM membership the same as being licensed? +
No. FELTOM is an industry association whose members commit to an extra quality charter, but it is not the official licence. 14 of the 32 licensed schools here are FELTOM members; the rest are fully licensed by the ELT Council without being FELTOM members, which is not a mark against them.
Which part of Malta are the English schools in? +
Most cluster in St Julian's, Swieqi, Paceville and Sliema, a compact, well-connected strip on the east coast that is also where most students live.
